One month and seventeen days later...

So I've been in Spain for a month and so many things have happened. Sorry that I've abandoned you all. There's been a national strike (the people are upset about how their government is handling the economy), I went to Cartagena, Granada (saw the Alhambra), Jumilla ('La ciudad de vino'/ The City of Wine'), and now I'm planning my next trip to Barcelona!

How are the people here? Well I'm experienced a mixture of things. In general I've met some very friendly people (who love to party), some people who love to stare you down (usually I end up having a staring contest with them because I feel like it's quite rude to stare at someone so I figured I'd let them feel how it is to be stared at), and some Spaniards who hate Spain. Ah, also people who think all Spaniards dance flamenco, play guitar, and go to bull fights, these are all stereoptypes of Spain that date back/ started during the time of the Dictator Francisco Franco who wanted to "unify"/nationalize the Spanish cultural identity. Many Spaniards disagree with these stereotypes that the world has of them (because, of course, stereotypes are false generalizations). There is social conflict within Spain about the ethics of bullfighting- some Spaniards support it, others don't. If you want to learn more about the Spanish Civil War and Francisco Franco's effect on Spain, do your research and form your own thoughts/ opinions about this topic. Either way, I'll post pics soon!
